What Was Needed?
Local Advantage operates a mobile platform that connects users with exclusive offers from local businesses, tourism operators and retailers. The existing mobile application had originally been built using Ionic 1 with a Laravel 5 backend, which had become outdated and increasingly difficult to maintain.
Storia Technologies was engaged to modernise the platform and rebuild the mobile application using React Native, providing improved performance, scalability and long-term maintainability.
The project involved a full framework migration of the mobile app while also upgrading the backend infrastructure to the latest Laravel framework, ensuring improved security, performance and compatibility with modern development tools.
Beyond the technical rebuild, the project also introduced several enhancements designed to improve user engagement and vendor management. These included a referral system to encourage organic growth, advanced location filtering to help users find nearby offers, and automated notifications to keep users informed about new deals and activity.
A vendor portal was also introduced, allowing participating businesses to manage their listings, update details and view customer engagement reports. Additional integrations were developed to support gift card functionality and user data exports for vendor ordering systems.
The result is a modern, scalable mobile platform that provides a significantly improved experience for both users and vendors while giving Local Advantage the flexibility to continue evolving the platform in the future.
